About Players and Options
For Windows Computers
| Player |
The use of Winamp from Nullsoft is recommended. It provides superior sound playback, and is auto configured to observe network playlists. |
| Playlist |
The playlist is a file which directs the player through a list of items from the network to play. You can open the playlist is Winamp and click tracks directly, and look through the entire list. |
| Streaming |
Winamp is designed to stream the sound content from the network, taking only so much as needed to keep a nice sound reproduction. Other Windows system players are not programmed to use streaming.

|
| Options |
Make sure the player is not set for shuffle of the playlist. The use of the EQ equalizer is not needed. |
Compact
Player |
You may obtain a very small streaming player from our file server. It has better sound than WMP, a compact size, and good streaming faculties. It is ideal for reading streams from broadcast servers such as Shoutcast.
Due to a program bug, this player will not switch to its next tracks automatically, and it uses 100% of CPU after it stalls in trying. This is cleared when the player is closed. Copy the URL below into its "File" menu and you're set to play. Use the >> track button to move forward.

|
| Tracks |
A network playlist is like a CD player in its use of tracks. On the player you can move backward and forward through the tracks as desired. |
| Titles |
Most players are not setup to display the track's tags which name the artist and album title. Windows Media Player will display Version II tags from a streaming file. It is difficult or impossible to open its playlist on some program versions. |
| Sound |
Many sound streams are CD quality, and a slow Internet connection will not be able to keep up its pace. |
| Headset |
Most external speakers are so poor they're unusable. You cannot get a good quality of sound without the use of a headset.
Get a normal feather-weight headset from a good dealer, and use a good brand name only, such as Sony. Get the dealer to give you a long cord extension so you may move freely while listening.
Headsets permit the use of higher sound volume without disturbing neighbors and other residents or workers.

In the above example, the port number for the stream [8000] follows the network name. |
